Civil Engineering

By planning, building, and maintaining the infrastructure needed to survive diverse climates, extreme weather, and the needs of an aging population, civil engineers build communities. They also build a better future by addressing environmental impacts and sustainability concerns. Today’s civil engineers are asked to meet many challenges, including pollution, deteriorating urban infrastructure, traffic congestion, energy needs, urban development, and community planning. Civil engineers plan, design, construct, operate, and manage airports, buildings, bridges, harbours, highways, flood control structures, transit systems, water supply and distribution systems, waste collection and
storm drainage, and other public works.

biology, and microbiology – with their expertise in engineering, environmental engineers tackle complex tasks like:
● Designing and managing systems for water distribution and collection, water treatment, municipal/industrial wastewater treatment, solid waste handling and processing, landfill design and operation, and air emissions control;
● Performing environmental impact assessments; and
● Environmental monitoring.

Career Opportunities:

● Air Pollution Control Engineer ● Air Quality Engineer ● Civil Engineer ● Climate Change Engineer ● Consulting Engineer
